A top five finish for Lowell Powerlifting in the MHSPLA 2024 Varsity Men's State Meet was a great way to end the season for the Red Arrows. It followed a runner-up finish for Lowell in the JV meet just two weeks ago.

Lowell had five lifters earn points as the team finished tied fourth with Oxford and just six points behind second place Holly. Grandville ran away with first place thanks to 12 placing lifters.

At 181, senior Brady Swift earned Lowell eight points thanks to squatting 450 lbs, benching 275 lbs, and deadlifting 535 lbs.

LHS had two competitors compete at 207, with Avery Elmhirst and Dylan Polczak competing. Polczak lifted a combined 1,250 lbs including a 445 lb squat.

Brady Hays finished second at 220, improving upon his lifts all three times in squat, deadlift, and bench press for a 1,270 lb total. His 475 lb squad was second in his division.

Alex Repp finished t-seventh at 145, benching 205 lbs and increasing his weight by 10 lbs in his three attempts after starting at 185.

At 155, Mason Butler finished ninth, deadlifting 415 lbs in his first attempt and making a big jump during his second successfully lifting 460 lbs and a 1020 lb total.

Lowell's powerlifting team may not be an MHSAA sport, but they're paving the way for success in Lowell's other sport programs. A great way to stay in shape, train for other sports, and improve strength, it's also been a good way to bring home some awards. The team has seen a lot of success this season.

Lowell's JV powerlifting team closed out their season on March 2nd at Croswell-Lexington, besting the hosts and nearly 70 other competing schools, finishing runner-up to Schoolcraft.
