The Lowell Area Farmers’ Market, located north of the KDL Englehardt Library on Monroe Street, will open for the season on June 5, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The outdoor farmers’ market, held on Thursdays through September 25, has been a staple of summer in Lowell for more than 20 years, offering fresh seasonal produce and unique items. New this year are vendors DADS Treats, all-natural, healthy dog treats; Fountain’s Gourmet Popcorn, and Kalmink Orchards from Ada.

“Moving the farmers’ market to historic downtown Lowell worked great last year,” said Shannon Kennedy, executive director of the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce. “We’re happy to be back in the same location.”

The market is a lead-up event to most of the Sizzlin’ Summer Concert series, starting on June 12. Positioned along the Riverwalk, on the lawn north of the library, the farmers’ market is within walking distance for many residents, close to shopping and dining for all visitors.

The vendors offer a wide variety of baked goods, certified organic beef, natural dog treats, gourmet popcorn, freeze-dried candies and fruits, herbal remedies, and an assortment of handmade goods and crafts by local crafters and artisans. Fresh fruits and vegetables will be available from Kalmink Orchards, and additional vendors will be added as crops are harvested.

“The market welcomes seasonal and daily vendors, so be sure to shop often, as new vendors are added,” Kennedy said.

Mikayla White, of White Family Farms LLC and White Family Farms Home Bakery, will serve as this year’s market master. She brings with her, years of personal market experience, creative energy, and a passion for promoting local businesses. “I am excited to bring the community together, showcase incredible local vendors, and create opportunities for new connections each week,” she said.

Vendor applications can be found on the chamber website. The seasonal rate is $160, or a $15 daily rate. “We’re always looking for produce vendors as fresh fruit and vegetable crops come in, especially late summer and early fall crops,” Kennedy said. “It’s been many years since we’ve had a cheese vendor, so that’s on the wish list.”

Parking is free, and public restrooms are available during the market.
