Lowell Charter Township and city officials held a dedication ceremony for the brand-new water splash pad, at the North Grand Riverfront Park, on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

The project spanned the entire year of 2024, with a successful test run, conducted last fall, before being temporarily shut down for the winter season.

“It’s a great example of collaboration between the township and the city,” Lowell Charter Township Supervisor Jerry Hale said. “It’s a nice piece of land that connects everything.”

The splash pad is located at the west end of the park, at 11998 Fulton Street SE, on a sliver of land donated by Impact Church. “It gives the park continuity and natural flow,” said Township Clerk Monica Burtt.

The splash pad is free to the public and features interactive water elements for all ages, including a misting tunnel, dump bucket, and sensory-friendly spray zones. The splash pad operates on a timer; press the button when you arrive to start the water. If odd/even water usage restrictions are enacted during the summer, the splash pad will follow the same schedule. It will remain open throughout the summer, with a closing date dependent on weather. Updates will be posted on the township website as the season winds down.

This fun and refreshing addition complements the broader amenities of the park, which include pickleball courts, a disc-golf course, walking trails, a playground, and a pedestrian bridge across the Grand River.

The project was made possible through a $150,000 Recreation Passport grant, supported by a partnership with Impact Church, additional community grant funding, and a generous contribution from a local grandfather with grandchildren in the city of Lowell.

The joint investment reflects the Lowell Township’s and the city’s shared commitment to expanding recreational opportunities for the community.
