BENNETT
LaVonne Ione Bennett, 85, of Ionia, went to be with her Lord and Savior September 3, 2025, after years of suffering the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.
She is survived by her son W. Rance (Linda) Bennett; daughter Laura (Glenn) Bennett-Kimble; grandchildren Kristina (Tyler) Groendyke, Joshua Clark, Noel (Jason) Evans; five great-grandchildren; and brother Thomas Daniel (Roberta) Lake. The daughter of Hersel and Maxine Lake, LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband, William in 2018, one stillborn child, and her brothers Louis Lake and Ivan Herbert Lake. LaVonne was known for her cleverness, generosity of spirit and mischievous twinkle in her eye.
A genealogist for years, she helped people find their ancestry in Ionia Co. and nearby areas. She was proud of her years working at Thompson Products in Portland, volunteering with local groups and donating 100s of handmade baby sweaters/blankets to pregnancy care centers. She will be sorely missed by her family. A memorial service will be held September 27, 11 a.m. at South Boston Bible Church, 6958 Kyser Rd, Lowell, with visitation 10–11 a.m. Luncheon at noon.
