HALE

Michael John Hale, age 80, of Lowell, Michigan passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Quentin Hale. Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Hale; children, Bryan (Diana) Hale, Don (Lisa) Hindley, Jeni (Joe) Barnella, Donna Wood; grandchildren, Camryn Hale, Brett Hindley, Rachel Hindley, Lindsay Hindley, Joey Barnella, Jack Barnella, John Barnella, Jake Barnella; brother, Bob (J.B.) Hale; sisters, Carol (Ron) Lawrence, Barbara (Dave) Carter, and Janice E. Hale. Mike graduated from Forest Hills in 1963. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for six years, from 1965 to 1971.

Mike was a talented builder, electrician, welder and machine mechanic throughout his working life. In 1984, Mike and Karen Hale were a part of starting Cousins Hallmark and were a part of the Lowell business community for over 30 years. Mike was a socializer and enjoyed telling recycled stories from his “misspent youth.”

He would often start a story by saying “maybe I told you this before” and, of course, he did! Stroh’s was his choice of award-winning beers and always made sure to ask if we wanted one. We could always count on Mike asking the family over to his house for a “Weenie Roast,” involving beer, food and a smokey campfire. Services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at United Methodist Church, 621 E Main St, Lowell, MI 49331, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Brad Brillhart officiating, Interment Bailey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lowell United Methodist Church.
