LAS Library Media Director Christine Beachler Earns Distinct Honor

Lowell Area Schools Library Media Director Christine Beachler was appointed to the Michigan Governor’s Educator Advisory Council it was announced on Thursday.

From the Michigan Government website, “The Governor's Educator Advisory Council consists of 15 voting members appointed by the governor and includes individuals representing various roles in Michigan's public education system, including the Michigan Teacher of the Year.

The responsibility of the Council is to act in an advisory capacity to the governor and to review and make recommendations regarding legislation relevant to Michigan's public education system.

In addition, at the request of the governor, the Council:

  • Identifies and analyzes issues impacting the effectiveness of Michigan's public education system; 

  • Identifies best practices in public education and recommends corresponding changes and improvements to Michigan's public education system; and 

  • Provides other information and advice relevant to public education. ”

Beachler has been at Lowell High School the past 36 years, becoming the district librarian 23 years ago. This is a short article on breaking LHS news.

“It is such an honor to be chosen to serve the students and educators throughout Michigan in this advisory capacity. I’m looking forward to working closely with Governor Whitmer’s office to share what I have learned through many years of experience with Lowell Area Schools in a manner that helps support and improve public education across the state. Our students are our future and providing a quality, effective and relevant education to every student is incredibly important to me,” Beachler told the Ledger this evening.
