OLLIS

Mary Helen Ollis, age 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2025, at Porter Hills. The only child of John and Helen (VanderMolen) Vander Jaqt, Mary was born in Grand Rapids on October 13, 1945, and was a lifelong resident of the area. After earning her teaching degree, Mary spent her career teaching elementary school for the Grand Rapids Public Schools. She was an active member of Calvary Christian Reformed Church of Lowell. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at FROM (Flat River Outreach Ministries). 

On August 25, 1984, Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Ollis. Bob, her dear husband of 40 years survives. Together, they shared a love for the Bishon Frise, and over the years several pampered dogs made their home with them. A funeral service for Mary was held at Porter Hills in The Meeting House on Friday April 11, 2025. Private interment will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory may be made to your favorite organization.
