Lowe is making the move from East Kentwood’s freshman center to Lowell HS

On a sunny Friday morning, first graders from Murray Lake Elementary School flocked to the one-room schoolhouse in Fallasburg, tins with snacks dangling in their hands.

Like the name implies, Six celebrated six talented LHS theater students. History roared to life on stage May 30th through June 1st at the Lowell Performing Arts Center (LPAC) as Lowell delivered three high-energy performances of SIX, the global musical hit that reimagines the six wives of Henry VIII as empowered pop icons.

The Lowell boys volleyball team capped off a dominant postseason run with a sweep of Holland Christian in the Michigan Boys Volleyball Division 2 state championship match, capturing their third straight state title.

For 147 years, graduates have walked through the halls of Lowell High School for one final time, closing one chapter and beginning another. While the buildings and backdrops have evolved over the decades, the spirit and structure of graduation have remained a constant—one final moment of togetherness before the class parts ways.

“The event was very well organized and the instructions leading up to the event were clear and simple,” shared a representative from an engineering firm. “The students were friendly and respectful. One of my groups asked questions and were engaged.”

Lowell seniors Ben Vonderheide, Conner Casarez, and Max Wasilew joined the podcast studio at WRWW in early February to talk about the upcoming Lowell High School musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Last year, three of our LINKS students, Haleigh Stickney, Katey Rogers and Caden Cone, were discussing other UNIFIED teams at area high schools. 

“Our number one priority is student learning,” VanderMeulen said. “What we do know is that if students feel like they belong and have a place in school, then learning increases.”

“The most fun part of the show was teaching the little kids the up on the house top dance and seeing how happy they were performing it onstage.”

Aspects like light, temperature, dust and time can significantly affect the print and could cause it to turn out blank," added Bandos.

For nearly 100 years, the Lowell High School Marching Band has taken the field during football games, entertaining fans, and adding to the atmosphere we’ve all known and loved for as long as we can remember.

On the corner of Whinnery and Covered Bridge Road, there was a fence post surrounded by big trees that lasted until 2010. But the main attractions on this tour were yet to come.

Brant Tiede, Treasurer, said, “I just enjoy volunteering and doing acts of service. I think it’s really fun to go out, and do little things to help people, with my friends.

“It’s a very small play that is meant for students just to have fun with it and enjoy their time there,” said VanDuinen.

Antonio Casarez presented the Student Council report and congratulated the girls gymnastics team for making it to the state finals, and the wrestling team for winning the state championship. He also reported that due to March being “Reading Month,” student flex time is designated reading time.

Lowell Area Schools Library Media Director Christine Beachler was appointed to the Michigan Governor’s Educator Advisory Council it was announced on Thursday.

This January, in only her first year at Bushnell Elementary School in Lowell, Bailey’s first grade students, not only exceeded her expectations in the competition, but they actually won first place in the state of Michigan and ranked 28th in the entire country.
